Patrick represents financial institutions, businesses, and executives in complex commercial, fiduciary, and business disputes in federal and state courts, with a particular focus on commercial litigation in Texas.
He has developed a broad litigation practice involving high-stakes business disputes, banking litigation, fiduciary matters, and emergency relief proceedings. He has recently served as lead counsel in complex commercial litigation in Dallas County, where he helped secure a multi-million-dollar settlement against the principal defendant after leading discovery, deposition strategy, dispositive briefing, and evidentiary hearings.
Patrick also represents financial institutions and corporate clients in federal litigation involving breach of contract, fiduciary duty, trade secret, and other business tort claims. His experience includes successfully briefing and arguing motions to dismiss claims involving breach of contract, trade secret, and related commercial disputes. He also helped obtain dismissal with prejudice of a nine-figure breach of contract claim asserted against a national bank.
In addition to his litigation practice, Patrick regularly advises clients on complex business transactions and restrictive covenant issues, including non-compete and non-solicitation agreements.
Background
Before joining Frederic Dorwart Lawyers, Patrick practiced at a large international law firm, where he worked on one of the largest multidistrict litigations in U.S. history. He served on multiple bellwether trial teams, including the team that secured the litigation’s first complete defense verdict.
Earlier in his career, Patrick clerked for judges on both the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, gaining firsthand insight into the federal judicial process.
Patrick earned his J.D., cum laude, from Cornell Law School. While at Cornell, he served on the Cornell Law Review, competed in moot court, and externed for the Honorable Richard C. Wesley of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
He also holds a master’s degree in history from the University of Oxford, where his graduate thesis, Saved by the Smoking Gun, examined the impeachment proceedings against President Richard Nixon and the development of the Articles of Impeachment.
Before graduate school, Patrick graduated summa cum laude from the University of Richmond, where he was a member of the varsity baseball team. Outside the office, he enjoys fly-fishing, Philadelphia sports, golf, and traveling.
