Alex Guyer is a real estate finance attorney with extensive experience representing banks and other financial institutions in commercial lending transactions, from single-lender deals to complex, multi-state credit facilities. She works across the full range of commercial real estate finance – acquisition, construction, and term loans, revolving credit facilities, and workout and restructuring matters – spanning multifamily, hospitality, industrial, office, retail, and mixed-use asset classes.
Her practice covers the full lifecycle of a lending relationship: negotiating and drafting credit agreements, security agreements, and closing deliverables; reviewing title, survey, and organizational diligence; and advising lenders through loan modifications, forbearance, defaults, and workouts. Alex is known for moving deals forward efficiently while staying focused on risk allocation – anticipating issues in structuring and negotiation so that closings stay on track.
Most recently, Alex served as Vice President and Counsel at Comerica Bank, where she grew into the primary in-house legal resource for a multi-state commercial lending portfolio across several business lines. In that role, she advised on borrower defaults, collateral issues, and regulatory matters; managed outside counsel and legal spend; and helped modernize legal operations, including deploying AI-driven tools to build risk frameworks and streamline review of third-party agreements.
Before joining Comerica, Alex was an associate at two Dallas-based law firms where she represented financial institutions and real estate investors through all stages of acquisition, development, and construction financing in middle-market transactions. She also brings six years of experience in commercial and employment litigation, which sharpens her approach to risk allocation and negotiation strategy in structuring and closing credit facilities.
