Sam Black focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, administrative proceedings, appellate litigation, and tribal law. He represents businesses, governmental entities, and individuals in high-stakes disputes involving significant legal, regulatory, and constitutional issues.
Clients rely on Sam for sophisticated legal analysis, strategic advocacy, and strong appellate writing in matters involving commercial disputes, administrative law, tribal jurisdiction, and constitutional litigation. He is known for his analytical approach, persuasive legal writing, and experience handling matters before state and federal courts.
Sam previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gregory Frizzell of the US District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma and later served as an Assistant Solicitor General for the State of Oklahoma. In that role, he authored multiple Oklahoma Attorney General Opinions and represented the State of Oklahoma before the United States Supreme Court in Oklahoma Statewide Charter School Board v. Drummond, 605 U.S. 165 (2025).
Sam earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. During law school, he was a member of the Oklahoma Law Review, served as a teaching assistant for Administrative Law, and acted as a class representative.
