Sara C. Royster focuses her practice on banking regulatory compliance, consumer financial services law, estate planning, and probate matters. Her practice is centered primarily on advising financial institutions regarding residential lending, loan servicing, and consumer protection laws regulated by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
Clients rely on Sara for practical and strategic guidance in navigating complex regulatory requirements affecting mortgage lending and servicing operations. She regularly advises banks on compliance obligations under federal consumer protection statutes and regulations, assists with regulatory examinations, and represents financial institutions in consumer and mortgage-related litigation.
Sara has experience in advising financial institutions from both General Counsel and Local Counsel perspectives. Her role is primarily one of risk mitigation and litigation prevention, often proactively defending her clients before matters escalate and focusing on practical business outcomes.
Sara has extensive experience advising clients regarding compliance with RESPA, TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, TCPA, and related consumer finance laws. She also assists financial institutions in developing enterprise-wide compliance policies and operational procedures designed to manage regulatory risk and maintain compliance across lending and servicing operations.
Additionally, Sara offers probate and estate planning expertise.
Before joining Frederic Dorwart, Lawyers in 2013, Sara practiced for seven years with Jones, Gotcher & Bogan, P.C. in Tulsa, primarily focused on commercial litigation.
