James Higgins is an experienced attorney who advises clients on banking, commercial, fiduciary, securities, and regulatory matters, with a particular emphasis on litigation and public finance law. His practice includes complex litigation, internal investigations, regulatory matters, trust and fiduciary disputes, securities litigation, municipal finance, and appellate advocacy.
Clients rely on James for strategic counsel in matters involving substantial financial exposure, regulatory scrutiny, fiduciary obligations, and operational risk. He regularly represents financial institutions, corporate trustees, institutional clients, and individuals in litigation, regulatory investigations, receivership matters, and bond-related disputes.
James also has significant experience serving as Trustee Counsel in corporate and municipal bond offerings and in representing indenture trustees in complex bond defaults and recovery proceedings involving multifamily housing, healthcare facilities, and senior living operations.
Prior to joining Frederic Dorwart, Lawyers PLLC, James served as Counsel in the Claims Division of the ConocoPhillips Legal Department.
